About Dr. Pavel

As the director of PathFinder Brain SPECT Imaging at The Neuroscience Center, Dan G. Pavel, MD, provides neuropsychiatric care for members of the Deerfield, Illinois, community and beyond.

Dr. Pavel’s career began in 1974 when he completed his nuclear medicine residency at Chicago’s Northwestern University, earned his nuclear medicine board certification, and subsequently joined the University of Illinois Medical Center. He advanced quickly and became director of nuclear medicine by 1977. Five years later, Dr. Pavel started teaching as a professor of radiology and nuclear medicine at the university.

In 1996, Dr. Pavel took a one-year sabbatical in Bethesda, Maryland, at the Laboratory of Neurosciences of the National Institutes of Health. He then returned to the radiology department at the University of Illinois Medical Center as the assistant department head for information systems. Since 2000, Dr. Pavel has been listed as a Top Doctor by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd.

With more than 30 years in medicine, Dr. Pavel has taken a special interest in functional imaging computer processing, especially Brain SPECT imaging. He has published numerous papers and given lectures at worldwide gatherings about brain SPECT imaging for neuropsychiatric disorders.

In 2005, Dr. Pavel became the full-time director of PathFinder Brain SPECT Imaging, where he continues to provide diagnostic evaluations for people with complex neuropsychiatric disorders.
